I have a privilege of often traveling and visiting new cities and I want to reproduce and emulate the experience of discovering new environments all over again. I do so by showing the details I notice when I explore a place, rather than revealing entire landscapes, which can be found on postcards and feel less personal. The location itself matters less than the idea of the new and ideal setting. I’ve photographed these places only once, since I am not necessarily trying to get the perfect photograph, but instead attempting to catch the right moment and feeling that represent a first impression.

Sometimes unfamiliar places feel more comfortable than areas I’ve come to know too well. There is a serenity that comes out from the new. I have the chance of going to many places and having these memories, which I do not want to forget during the times I happen to be stuck in one city. The past reminds me of where I want to go in the future, making the present easier to bear. I hope to keep this world that presents itself infrequently for a more permanent time and without spatial limitations.

I took these photographs with a purpose of fun and happiness, to show an appreciation of my surroundings in different places of the world. Through careful composition, the lines, shapes, textures, and colors from steps, corners, windows, and walls put down by architects become a new composite. In a moment of calm and appeasement, I end up with pleasing photographs, which add up into a greater aesthetic over time.
